Shower Regrout & Recaulk

Refresh for Less

For a fraction of a tear-out and replacement of the tile, the grout & caulk can be replaced, leaving a fresh, 'like new' look & feel.

We only use new polymer & epoxy grouts & 100% silicone caulks that have the highest mildew resistance to ensure long-life results.

The result? A fresh mold-free shower that is easier to clean and will last for years.

Mold & Mildew

Don't be embarrassed! Mold & mildew are a fact of life here in Florida, and once they get started it's impossible to completely clean.

The porous nature of grout allows the roots of the mildew to get down deep. Kind of like a weed that keeps popping back up every time it rains, mildew keeps coming back.

Often the dead mildew stains the grout leaving a discolored 'ghost of mildew' residue that is permanent.

(Bleaching without cleaning first is a major factor in this staining.)

Hard Water

In Florida we have some of the hardest water in the country.

These minerals cause water spots on glass & tile and can even etch the surfaces causing permanent damage.

The same mineral build-up clogs your shower heads and degrades your fixtures.

It can also lead to premature water heater failure, and heating hard water is less efficient than soft water.

We recommend you install a whole house water softener to remove the minerals.

Humidity

Another good tip is to ensure your bathroom exhaust fans are extracting the steam & humidity properly.

If your mirrors are steaming up, or if you see condensation on the walls then you should look at your ventilation.

Sometimes the grille or the fan blades are clogged and can simply be cleaned. Perhaps the fan is just tired and needs to be replaced, or maybe it's just not big enough.

Also, there needs to be enough fresh air coming into the room to replace the air that is being vented. A gap under the door of at least 3/4" helps, or leaving the door cracked open can help.

Shower Grout & Caulk Failure

The purpose of grout and caulk is to fill the gaps around the tiles and surface joints to create a water-tight barrier.

If this barrier fails then water penetration can become a major problem.

Old caulk also becomes brittle and this allows water penetration behind the seal, which in turn creates the ideal environment for mold.

Often the problem goes undetected allowing mildew to form behind the tiles.

If the water intrusion is bad enough the tiles can fall off the wall or flooding can be seen in adjacent areas.

Five Showers Repaired

We repaired 5 showers in the same home.

All fairly common and minor repairs.

Addressing them early prevents potentially catastrophic water damage.

Using epoxy grouts and 100% clear & color matched silicone we were able to restore all these showers in 2 days

All before & after pictures are from jobs completed locally.
